What Are Emotions Called? (Part - 07)

We do not have the practice of friendliness, so we are ignorant about the power of friendliness. In peaceful times, the country becomes weak and in the times of war, power starts emerging in people. We have not learnt to make good use of peacetime. Otherwise, power should be present in peacetime. There is no conflict in peacetime. Where there is no conflict, creative power emerges. The flowers of art, culture and poetry blossom and flourish in friendliness. Peace of mind of a human being is manifested only in a friendly state.

Osho had said in the camp of Mahabaleshwar that the foundation of the entire power of Germany and Japan was based on enmity. The rulers of these countries kept the focus of their public speeches around enmity. These rulers created such an atmosphere of fear that the common people started feeling that they were in danger from the neighbouring country. Inciting people against the neighbouring countries became the main objective of the rulers. Alarm sirens started ringing in peoples' minds. They were forced to consider themselves powerful due to the fear of imaginary danger. They were forced to live their lives in the shadow of fear, but this imaginary fear infused power in them.

Anyway, as promised I reached my friend's house exactly at 5 o'clock. My friend's uncle looked at me from top to bottom with contempt as if I am an animal escaped from a zoo. My friend introduced me to his father and uncle. I had just turned 20 at that time. I had not got the right to vote. After the formal talks, he concentrated on the subject matter. He was an English professor. He was used to using English words mostly in his conversation. He asked, "Where did you get this friendly feeling from?" Do you know, if a person becomes friendly towards the universal, then what will be left to do?

"Sir, Humans are restless and agitated. They are restless. Friendliness can bring down the level of restlessness and anxiety. The essence of life is evident on the face. Faces that are dull can become radiant. We -" he interrupted me,  breaking my speech.

He said angrily -

"I just asked if we became more friendly towards the whole universe then what will be left for us to do. There is competition in state level exams and success is achieved only by pushing hundreds of competitors behind and moving ahead. But your theory of friendliness will ruin everything. You are trying to brainwash premature children. This theory will prove to be the enemy of  competition.”
