Look. Osho's imagination.
How the ending of a centuries-old traditional story got transformed.
That day it came to my mind that our intelligence works in one direction. The intelligence cannot even think of going to the other side. Just like the old cap seller told his son the trick to get the caps back from the monkeys, the leader of the monkeys also held a meeting and imparted guru gyaan to them. This ending of the story provided me a platform to think about stories, poems and anecdotes in a new way. My way of thinking and understanding kept changing.
This is Osho's great contribution. Otherwise, religious preachers call their own statements as Brahma Vakya and insist on following them without any ifs and buts. Osho is probably the only preacher who preached to doubt in every sermon. He emphasized us to know rather than believe, using our discretion. Osho's sermons before 1977 used to end like this-
"Don't believe what I say just because I said it. This is my own experience. You should pay attention to these things. If it is true, you will know it with a little effort. I am grateful to you for listening to my words so attentively. In the end, I bow to the God within you. Please accept my bowings."
What a unique mystic he is. He wants to awaken the conscience of the people. History is witness that no philosopher or mystic has ever said that you should not accept my words just because I have said. He is telling us to think deeply on what I say and test it on the touchstone of truth. If what he says is true, then there will be no other option left than not believing it. This is not the case with other saints and mystics. They either link their sermons with the words of God or with the sutras of the scriptures. Such people say that what I am saying is a line of iron. If you go left or right of this line, you will be sent to hell. Many people even say in their sermons that my statements are supported by the scriptures. If you doubt them, you will remain unhappy throughout your life. If you do not wake up in the morning at the Brahma Muhurat or Fajr, you will commit a sin.
Osho says that waking up in Brahma Muhurta or Fajr is good but only when such awakening takes place from within. Waking up in Brahma Muhurta due to fear of sin will not bring virtue. Waking up forcibly by setting an alarm has nothing to do with virtue. When you are completely asleep and the conscience says wake up, now the birds are about to sing. Do yoga, pranayam and prepare for namaz, then you will experience happiness. Such awakening should not be due to fear of any sin. Not even with the desire of any virtue. Only for the purpose of welcoming the completion of the night and the arrival of the morning.
There are many people in the world who sleep at night but are unable to wake up. Their life ends during their sleep. Whenever your eyes open automatically, thank your God for giving you another opportunity to see a wonderful morning. In this way, Osho is not strict about discipline. He is the inventor of self-discipline. Such discipline, which is born from the soul. A discipline that is natural and spontaneous. Effortless. Without fear and fear of sin.
