The visitor was happy. He thought to himself that his choice was good. In this way, one's thoughts are like his feelings. Kabirdas also says-- I had gone out in search of a bad person but I did not find any bad person. When I looked inside myself, I found out that there is no one worse than me.
Society, family and upbringing together work to purify or contaminate emotions. Emotions are the determinants of the condition and direction of life. Emotions that have become impure by being crushed under the feet of cut-throat competition in society can be purified. Osho had organized a meditation camp in the natural environment of Mahabaleshwar sixty years ago. In this camp, Sadhguru Osho has also suggested ways to purify emotions. Those who tried these measures with honesty and dedication had wonderful experiences. First of all, let us consider emotions from the spiritual point of view and then we will discuss the meditation experiments suggested by Osho.
Osho has given a high place to emotions in human life. The usefulness of Bhaav Shuddhi (purification of emotions) is considered more than that of body and thought. Humans are most affected by their emotions. Love, hatred and anger are affected by emotions. Osho says that most people know that there is no worse situation than anger. Most of the crimes are the result of anger. People also take a resolution that they will not get angry now but when anger catches them, all the resolutions are left in vain. Why does it happen that when we take a resolution of not getting angry at the level of thoughts, still we are not able to apply that resolution in life. Resolution has to be made a companion in the journey of life. Then the journey will be complete. Then the question arises that how can feelings and thoughts transform life? According to Osho, life can be transformed only when the feelings become pure. But for purification of feelings sadhna is necessary too. It is not that we instructed the mind to become pure and the feelings became pure. The social environment has left no stone unturned in making the feelings impure.
When do emotions become impure? According to Osho, emotions become impure when friendliness turns into hatred, compassion into cruelty, happiness into anguish and gratitude into ingratitude. Therefore, one has to do sadhana to purify emotions. Osho has suggested four emotions for this sadhana - friendliness, compassion, happiness and gratitude.
First of all, lets discuss friendliness. Osho has given friendliness a higher place by not considering it equivalent to friendliness. But friendliness is the superlative degree of friendliness. Going into the depth of friendliness, Osho said that we see the outer world only in the form of objects and things. The inner world surrounds man with emotions. For this, we have to generate a feeling of friendliness within us towards the entire world. We have to make it clear in our mind that I do not have enmity with any person, animal, bird, tree or plant. I have friendliness with the entire world. The more hatred and jealousy we have in our mind, the more our mind will be disturbed and agitated. The practice of friendliness is the first step for peace of mind. The practice of friendliness is so simple that we cannot even imagine. Man has been worried about such a simple practice for thousands of years. Osho for the first time tried to take the human mind out of the vortex of unrest by declaring friendliness as the first door to purification of feelings.
