According to Dr. Megan's research, emotions arise from the combination of the stories told about our physical sensations. Our physical sensations act as signals that provide us with information about the internal and external environment. However, our mind's perception and beliefs about these sensations give rise to specific emotions. Research has also revealed the fact that the mind plays an important role in the origin and manifestation of emotions. Our life is affected by the emotions that are born from our thoughts. Positive and negative memories and past life also affect our present. Emotions are also influenced by culture. Like many cultures give complete freedom to express emotions. But in many cultures, the scope of expressing emotions is limited. Emotions also affect our decision making power. Personal relationships are also affected by emotions. When we meet a person who is in accordance with our ideology, then it feels pleasant. Meeting a person of our choice deepens the feeling of love.
We can also say that emotions, by functioning in the brain due to momentary impulse of the mind, inspire us to act according to the impulse, whereas thoughts, being generated due to pure mental sensation, are comparatively more stable. Hence, they show foresight. According to science, every action has a reaction. If our action is positive and pure, then the results will also be pleasant. It is a useless question that if we have good thoughts for someone and the other person is full of bad thoughts for us, then we should also become like him.
It is not like that. The elders have said that do good and throw it in the river.
Osho narrates a tale- A man arrived in a new village. He asked an old man that I want to settle in this village. You are an old man. Please tell me how are the people here? The old man did not give a direct answer to this question but after looking at the man carefully asked a counter question-
"How are the people of the village you come from?"
The visitor said in a flat voice-
"The people of that village are dishonest, liars and deceitful."
"But the people of this village are not only dishonest, liars and deceitful, but also violent. They become ready to kill even on trivial matters,” replied the old man.
That person went away with a sad face after listening to the old man. After an hour, a person who looked like a farmer came to the same old man and asked-
"I live in a nearby village. There is no employment as the water in the ground has dried up. I want to live in this village. How are the people here, Baba?"
The old man repeated the same question, "How are the people in the village you are leaving behind?"
"The people of that village are very nice. They live with love. If the water in the ground had not dried up there, I would never have left that lovely village."
"The people of this village are also full of love. They are educated. They treat people who come from outside as guests. They have a hospitable mindset. Good people live here. You will be happy to come to this village."
The visitor was happy. He thought to himself that his choice was good. In this way, one's thoughts are like his feelings. Kabirdas also says-- I had gone out in search of a bad person but I did not find any bad person. When I looked inside myself, I found out that there is no one worse than me.
