Osho has invented many formulas for happiness and pleasure in humans. He wants that the spring of happiness should come in the lives of people. Clouds of love should rain and the seeds of pleasure should germinate in unhappy humanity. When the seeds of pleasure germinate and its fragrance starts coming, Osho warns that at that time do not identify yourself with pleasure. Do not think that I became pleased. Being aware and a witness, see that pleasure is surrounding you from all sides but I am different. Pleasure is a scene, I am the observer of that scene. According to Osho, it is easy to separate oneself from sorrow but it is a bit difficult to separate oneself from happiness. Therefore, Osho advised the seekers that it would be appropriate to start this process with pleasure itself. It has to be understood in this way that when the circle of pleasure starts forming during meditation, then think that I am just an observer. Yesterday I was surrounded by pain and today by pleasure, it is possible that tomorrow I get surrounded by pain? But I am the observer. To be stable in this state of being a spectator is to be a witness. This process will purify the emotions. Our feelings will become pure.
Osho explains the feeling of happiness more clearly through the story of an ever-cheerful saint. In my view, Osho is the greatest storyteller of this era. It would be better to write this story in Osho's own words. Listen to the story of enlightenment in Osho's own words -
"There was a saint. He was so happy throughout his life that people were surprised. People never saw him sad and in pain. When the time came for him to die, he said that now I will die after three days. I am telling this to remember that the man who made everyone laugh all his life, no one should cry on his funeral pyre. When I die, there should be no mourning at my hut. There was always joy and celebration here. So celebrate my death too. People were sad. He was a wonderful man. The number of people who loved him was very large. Lovers started gathering at the saint's hut. He was making people laugh till the time of his death. He was talking wonderful things about love. In the morning before dying, he sang a song. After singing the song, he said, "Remember, don't take off my clothes. Lay me on my pyre with my clothes on. Don't let me take a bath before laying me on the pyre." Then he died. He was not given a final bath. He was laid on the pyre with his clothes on. His friends and disciples were sad and inconsolable. But everyone was surprised to see that he had hidden phuljadia and firecrackers in his clothes. As soon as his pyre was set on fire, firecrackers and phuljadia started bursting. His pyre also became a celebration. People started laughing out loud. People said that the person who made people laugh throughout his life, continued to make people laugh even after his death."
