When this news reached the village, a woman from the village said that four days ago when Ramdev's health had deteriorated, she had gone to his house to ask about his health. Then Ramdev had said that he would trap many people in such a way that it would be difficult for them to get out of that trap. She started beating her head and said that he kept troubling people throughout his life and even after his death he kept troubling them. He trapped half the village in his trap."
We have told you stories of the end times of two people. One was a saint who kept people happy by making them laugh all his life. The other was Ramdev who kept people in pain throughout his life and even after his death, under a well-planned scheme, he trapped the villagers in a murder case. Everyone's thinking and goals can be different. Ramdev kept looking for ways to trouble and make people unhappy throughout his life. His energy kept getting spent in this negative work. He too remained troubled and unhappy. The people of the village too remained unhappy.
It is true that those who have compassion, friendship, love and happiness in their lives, they are happy by distributing these among people. Whatever is in a person's mind that is what he can give. Saint had happiness and pleasure in his mind which he kept distributing to people till his last breath. Ramdev had sadness, sorrow and animosity in his mind which he kept getting troubled people by giving them till his last breath.
We were talking about Bhaav Shuddhi (purity of emotions). When our emotions become pure, then we will realize the true pleasure of life. Living life with pure emotions is considered to be an authentic life.
The fourth way to purify emotions is gratitude. For purification of em otions, it is helpful to develop a feeling of gratitude in the mind. Osho first of all underlines the importance of the body. Osho says that the body is such a device within which the soul resides. If we first consider breathing, we will find that it is automatic. We do not have to make any effort to inhale or exhale. Everything is happening automatically. Shouldn't a feeling of gratitude and thanks to God arise for the automatic functioning of the most important act of life? It should arise naturally. If breathing would not be an automatic process but would be dependent on the action of the person, then as soon as we got busy in some work and forgot to breathe, it was inevitable that life would end. What he means to say is that we should have a feeling of gratitude towards God for the automatic breathing process given by God.
Gratitude means the feeling of being grateful for the favours done by someone. Gratitude is seen as a courtesy in civilized society. If someone helps us, expressing gratitude towards him is also gratitude. If a person repeatedly guides us and makes our work easier, then it is natural to have respect for that person. This respect is also gratitude. I believe that with the gratitude we can become sensitive and positive towards the people and situations around us. This gives rise to a new approach towards life. Gratitude helps us to develop a new perspective towards life. Gratitude is the quality that reminds us of the kindness shown by someone and urges us to return the favour.
